Default Lone Star Pen Club

This is not associated with IAP. I received this info from Dan (cnc_maker) about the next meeting of the Lone Star Pen Club. Dan says they want to sponsor a Houston Pen Show soon so they need to get anyone and everyone interested involved.

This is a reminder of our next meeting of the Lone Star Pen Club that will take place on November 18, 2009 at 6:30 pm at Maria Selma's Restaurant - 1617 Richmond Street, Houston, Texas.

Our guest and presenter for this meeting will be Mr. James Daniels.

This is going to be a meeting that will be remembered for many years to come !
Mr. Daniels is a Certified Forensic Document Examiner. He has been legally recognized as an expert by Judges in both state and federal courts and in Arbitration matters. He also hold a degree in Chemistry. Now in private practice, he was a scientist in the Houston Police Crime Laboratory, and later Questioned Document Examiner with the Houston Police Department Identification Division.

His postgraduate credits include forensic training at the FBI National Academy at Quantico, Virginia, FBI Headquarters in Washington DC and the United States Secret Service at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco, Georgia. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Forensic Document Examiners, a member of the American Chemical Society and the American Society of Questioned Document Examiners, Distinguished Member of the Southwestern Association of Forensic Scientists, and Fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences.

His publicatoins can be found in American and Canadian forensic and law journals including the Journal of Forensic Sciences and the Journal of the American Society of Questioned Document Examiners. Some representative titles include, "Influence of the Chisel Edged Pen on Historical Hands", "Image Summing", "Archive Microfilm Records: Obtaining the Best Possible Print for Examination", "The Backyard Terrorist", "Unusual Formation of the Cursive Lower Case Letter 'P'", "Photoelastic Stress Analysis of Typewriter Film Ribbons", "Compensating for Linear Distortion Using Computer Graphics", "The Polarizing Pellicle", "Counter-intuitive Aspects of Forensic Document Examination", "Tonal Artifacts of the JPEG Codec", "Reconstituting Gradation Using Multiple Photocopier Splits" and "Thermal Gradient Mechanism of Line Crossing Anomaly".

The evening of November 18th promises to be one that you will remember and refer back to for years to come. Mr. Daniels is a true expert in his field.

Be sure to attend - Mark your calendar now - Bring your friends - All are welcome !
